Subaru Service Drive Porter

Looking for a nice change in environment? Come work for one the best family-owned dealerships in town as a Service Drive Porter. Enjoy working with a group of highly motivated individuals that make up our Parkway Team. This position requires preparation of vehicles and moving of vehicles, keeping the vehicles in sound working condition, and assisting service advisors as requested in a fast-paced, friendly, and professional environment. MUST HAVE clean driving record!!!!

Essential Duties

· Prepares vehicles to be serviced with proper PPE, example seat covers, steering wheel covers, paper mats and disinfectant spray.

· Reports mileage to advisor.

· Makes copies of driver's license and insurance for advisors.

· Moves car to the appropriate number workspace.

· Inspects parts, equipment, or vehicles for cleanliness, damage, and compliance with standards or regulations.

· Drives vehicles to and from service lane, service stalls, and parking lot as needed.

· Ability to politely interact with the customer to make their experience a good one.

· Must be a safety conscientious worker.

· Makes key tags for vehicles.

· Safety conscious individual.

· Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

· Requires Valid Driver's License with no points in last three years.

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

· Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees of organization.

· No prior experience or training.

Job Summary:       The General Service Technician is responsible for performing vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance according to Volvo factory standards for labor time, Fixed Right First Time, and Customer Satisfaction/Care By Volvo goals.  The position may also entail participation in a mentoring/apprenticeship program. 

 

 

Principal Responsibilities:

 

  Thoroughly performs appropriate and necessary diagnostics to identify vehicle problem utilizing all available factory technical information and specified tools/equipment.

 Performs vehicle repair as outlined on repair order within specified time frame according to proper factory repair procedures and dealer policies.

   Reviews service write up to verify required work.

   Determines if vehicle requires any other work and immediately advises details to Service Advisor including if repairs can be completed within time promised.

 Secures needed parts from the Parts Department

 Strives to exceed customer expectations for repair.

 Ensures service repair notes/records are clear and well documented.

 Road Tests vehicles to ensure repairs are properly completed.

 Ensures the cleanliness of customer vehicles.

 Ensures warranty claims are properly documented and submitted in a timely manner.

  Assists Service Advisors as needed in communicating with customers about
vehicle repairs.

 Assist other technicians as needed.

 Participate in mentoring/apprentice program

 Attend factory training classes to stay current with new vehicle systems; attend technical training classes, keep up to date on industry developments/information, and seek professional certifications.

 Comply with federal (ie, OSHA), state, and local regulations governing safety and hazardous waste disposal.

 Maintain a clean and neat work area.

 Use shop tools with care, and take time to keep
them organized, clean and properly maintained. 

 Job Specifications: 

 

Education and Experience(Knowledge):

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • ASE Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of Volvo service preferred
  • Valid Driver's License and good driving record
  • 3-5 years experience in auto repair; Volvo service experience preferred but not required.

Competencies/Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend diagnostic service information including wiring diagrams.
  • Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to use service shop equipment.

Work Environment :

  • Employee must have full set of personal tools
  • Employee must be able to operate shop equipment and power tools.
  • Employee will be exposed to noise, dust, wide temperature variances (cold to hot) and will be required to lift heavy parts and equipment up to 75lbs
